Whenever you feel like having cake for breakfast and you are a chocolate lover, this is a great option for you. It’s extremely healthy and guilt free since oats are filling and a great source of natural fiber while dark chocolate is a powerhouse for antioxidants.
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon grated dark chocolate
- 1 teaspoon of orange zest
- 1 tablespoon sweetener of choice
- 1 cup milk of choice
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
Toppings
- Strawberries
- Pumpkin seeds
- Desiccated coconut
- Cashew nuts
Instructions:
- Add oats, dark chocolate, orange zest, milk & water to a saucepan and simmer on medium low heat while stirring for about 7minutes.
- Remove from heat and add in the sweeter of choice and vanilla extract.
- Serve with your toppings of choice.
My choice of sweetener was monkfruit sweetener since it has zero calories, no carbs, no fat like regular sugar, honey or maple syrup and thus cannot spike your blood sugar. Best suited for diabetic people, anyone watching their calories intake yet want sweet things and it promotes weight lose.
