Minced beef is so versatile in preparation just as rice or chicken. It also has simple recipes that one can use including this one or some technical ones like making burger patties for burgers or some meat balls or lasagna or shepherds pie: the list is endless. This simple minced beef recipe can be served with rice or pasta or even used in making some delicious samosas since it’s not soupy. (It’s a dry fry kinda dish 😉 )
Preparation and cooking:
Place your minced meet in a sufuria/ cooking pot to precook. Use a cooking spoon to break down any “lumps”. Make sure not to add any water. Cover and let it cook on its own. (This is how I precook all my red meat with no water).
After a few minutes, the meat will release its own juices as below.
Let the meat keep cooking till all its juices have dried up.
After it’s well cooked, transfer into a bowl and using the same sufuria/ cooking pot, add in the cooking oil and onions till they are slightly cooked and not browned. It will take about 2-3 minutes.
At this point, add in your garlic, ginger, turmeric paste and dania/coriander stems and let them cook till they are just fragrant for another 2-3 minutes. (You will loooove the aroma for sure).
Add in the grated/ pureed tomatoes, stir and let them cook for 3-4 minutes covered. (Grated/ pureed tomatoes tend to cook faster).
Once the tomatoes are well cooked, add in the rest of the vegetables (hohos/ capsicums and carrots), balsamic vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Stir everything together and let cook for 4-5 minutes.
Once the vegetables are well cooked, add in the precooked minced beef, mix well with the vegetables and let cook again for a few minutes to allow all the flavors to mix well.
At this point your minced beef is well cooked. Switch off the fire and add in the coriander/dania leaves and serve.
