They say when life gives you lemons- make lemonade but what if you don’t intend to (no pun intended) and you have plenty of them? Here we are all about maximizing what we have and avoiding food waste at all times. There are times I have been gifted lots of lemons or happened to have lots of lemons on hand and I had to learn how to store them to avoid tossing them in the dustbin after a few days.
I tried different tips and tricks including letting them stay on the counter but they ended up drying out and thus didn’t yield any zest or juice at the end of the day since they end up drying out.
This method applies to both local and imported lemons.
HOW TO STORE LEMONS
- Start by washing the lemons thoroughly with plain water.
- Place them in a container then fill it up with water.
- Cover with the lid then store them in the fridge. They can last up to 4 weeks!
This method applies to both local and imported lemons. In the below photo is a batch of local lemons that had been in the fridge for 3 weeks still looking so juicy!
