Here’s how you can brew this fragrant and flavorful tea at home.

Prepare the Pineapple Peels
Begin by rinsing the pineapple peels thoroughly to remove any dirt or pesticides.

Boil the Water and Add Spices
In a medium sized saucepan, add the pineapple peels, cloves, cardamom pods, cinnamon stick, minced ginger and water. Bring everything to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium & let the mixture simmer for 5-7 minutes to infuse the water with the flavors of the spices and pineapple peels..

Add Hibiscus Petals
After the spices have simmered, add the dried hibiscus petals to the pot. Continue simmering for another 3-5 minutes. The hibiscus petals will release their color and tart flavor into the water, turning the tea a beautiful, rich red.

Strain the Tea
Once the tea has brewed to your desired strength, strain the tea into a cup to remove the spices, pineapple peels, and hibiscus petals.

Sweeten & Enjoy
Taste the tea and, if desired, add a sweetener like honey or sugar to balance the tartness of the hibiscus. Stir well and enjoy the fragrant, spiced tea while it’s hot.

Serve Iced
If you prefer your tea cold, let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least an hour before serving over ice. The spices and pineapple peels will continue to infuse, making this iced tea just as flavorful as the hot version.

SPICY HIBISCUS TEA RECIPE VIDEO

Here is a quick video showing how I made this easy and delicious spicy hibiscus tea (zobo drink).
