Ingredients

  • ¾ kg chicken wings, tips removed, cut at the joints
  • ¼ cup corn starch or all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tsps paprika
  • ½ tsp cayenne pepper, optional
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Cooking oil spray, as needed
Honey BBQ Sauce
  • ½ cup barbecue sauce
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
For Garnish
  • 1 bunch fresh cilantro leaves, chopped

Method

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 200°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Prepare the coating: In a bowl, combine the corn starch or flour, salt, black pepper, paprika, cayenne pepper (if using), and garlic powder. Whisk until well mixed.
  3. Coat the wings: Add the chicken wings to the flour mixture and toss until evenly coated.
  4. Arrange on tray: Place the wings on the prepared baking tray in a single layer, making sure none overlap.
  5. Oil and bake: Lightly spray the wings with cooking oil. Bake at 200°C for 30–35 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  6. Prepare the sauce: While the wings cook, mix the barbecue sauce, honey, and soy sauce in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  7. First basting: Remove the wings from the oven and brush generously with the honey BBQ sauce.
  8. Caramelize: Increase the oven temperature to 220°C and switch to grill mode. Grill the wings for 2–4 minutes.
  9. Final glaze: Flip the wings, baste the other side, and return to the oven for another 2–4 minutes until sticky and caramelized.
  10. Garnish and serve: Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh cilantro, and serve hot or cold.
