Method
- Activate Yeast: In a large bowl, whisk warm water, warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
- Mix Dough: Add butter, salt, and about 1 cup of the flour mixture. Stir until combined.
- Knead: Gradually add remaining flour, kneading until soft and elastic.
- First Rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Shape: Punch down dough, roll into a rectangle, then shape into a log. Place in a greased loaf tin.
- Second Rise: Cover and let rise again for 1 hour.
- Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 30-34 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool: Cool in pan for 5-10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
